Annular Void & Abandonment Fills

To date, lightweight concrete admixtures have helped produce products that have been pumped up to 14,000 linear feet in distance. These admixtures have been known to experience an average density production control of 25 to 40 pounds per cubic foot, yielding a compresive strength of 50 to 330 PSI, respectively.

Better still, there are many more densities and compressive strength designs available, so no matter the project, you can get the right admixture for the job.

The benefits and uses of Low Density Cellular Concrete (LDCC) for engineered fill and engineered flowable fill projects is how lightweight it is, low-density characteristics, and how highly flowable LDCC is. In addition to this, it can fill voids and pipelines quickly, permanently, and affordably.

Applications for LDCC in pipeline construction can be abandonment fills, annular fills for sliplined pipes, fills between a pipe and a tunnel cut, as well as between a pipe and a cribbed excavation. Sinkholes, filling settlement voids under slabs, and voids produced by fill material washouts are further applications for void fill.

Unused pipes are prohibited from being simply abandoned by construction codes; instead, they must be either removed or filled. Because removing abandoned pipes can be time-consuming and costly, engineered fill is frequently the best option. The Nettles team can easily and swiftly fill pipelines using LDCC. The substance is very easy to pump from a distance of more than 1,000 feet, and the pipe fill occupies a large amount of space while being much lighter than other flowable fills.

The LDCC flowable fill from Elastizell has a number of benefits for abandoned pipes. LDCC:

  • minimizes surface disruption and trenching.
  • decreases settling and dead load.
  • Workers are kept safely outside the excavation during void filling because no compacting is necessary.
  • The volumes and densities of the LDCC used are used to confirm that the void was completely filled.
  • When necessary, engineered fill can be easily removed.
  • Fast installation is a cost-effective way to fill holes.
  • Due to its flowability, positive erosion void filling in pipelines can have longer fill runs.
  • flows into places where granular infill would be challenging to compress.
  • pipeline hazard

A pipe that has been abandoned is frequently filled in references to pipe fills. However, pipe gaps or gaps between pipes and other materials can also be filled with designed fill. This is known as pipeline or pipe void fills. An annular fill must be used to fill the area between the inner and outer pipes, for instance, when installing a sliplined pipe (a pipe inside a pipe). Due to its low density and excellent flowability, LDCC entirely fills annular voids in sliplined pipelines, stabilizes the liner pipe, and lowers filing pressures.

Low Density Cellular Concrete (LDCC)

The benefits and uses of Low Density Cellular Concrete (LDCC) for engineered fill and engineered flowable fill projects are based on its lightweight nature, low-density characteristics, and that it is highly flowable.

Consider these additional benefits. LDCC admixtures can:
Fill voids and pipelines quickly, permanently, and affordably.
Produce products which can be pumped to a distance of up to 14,000 linear feet.
Experience an average density production control of 25 to 40 pounds per cubic foot, yielding a compressive strength of 50 to 330 PSI, respectively.

Note: There are many additional densities and compressive strength designs available, so no matter the project, you can get the right admixture for the job.

Engineered Fills

Construction codes prohibit unused pipes from being simply abandoned. Instead, they must be either removed or filled.

Generally, removing abandoned pipes can be time-consuming and costly, so engineered fills are frequently the best option. We can easily and swiftly fill pipelines using LDCC. • Accuracy, since the volumes and densities of the LDCC used are used to confirm the void was completely filled.

About Pipe Fills

A pipe that has been abandoned is frequently filled. However, pipe gaps or gaps between pipes and other materials can also be filled with designed fill. This is known as pipeline or pipe void fills.

An annular fill must be used to fill the area between the inner and outer pipes, such as when installing a sliplined pipe (or a “pipe inside a pipe”).

Due to its low density and excellent flowability, LDCC entirely fills annular voids in sliplined pipelines, stabilizes the liner pipe, and lowers filling pressures.
